David Bentley insisted three points were all that mattered as he helped us to a vital victory over his former club Blackburn at the Lane on Sunday.
The midfielder admitted ‘it wasn't the greatest game' but was nevertheless more than satisfied with the 1-0 victory that lifted us from 19th to 15th in the Premier League.
Roman Pavlyuchenko struck the only goal after nine minutes and later hit the post from David's free-kick. Rovers then had Martin Olsson sent off and we controlled the second half but found the 10 men tough to crack.
"It was an important win," said ‘Bents'. "It wasn't the most exciting game, we all know that, but the result was all that mattered this time.
"They defended well, especially after going down to 10 men. They got players behind the ball and were difficult to break down.
"We know the crowd wanted us to go on and score more goals and we looked to go forward but in the end we did what we had to do."
Aaron Lennon was the name on everyone's lips after an electric display down the right flank and David, who played down the opposite side, added: "He played very well. He has that pace in his locker. He's so quick that he can give any defender nightmares."
