Ben's target

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ben Thatcher hopes to return to action before the end of the season.

Our £5m full-back has been out since the end of November with a hip injury.

He told the Official Spurs Website last week about the frustrations of rehabilitation but there is light at the end of the tunnel — he hopes to start running again when he returns to Spurs Lodge next week.

Ben admitted: “I’d love to play again before the end of the season, prove my fitness, get a break in the summer and come back fresh.

“As long as I feel good within myself I’ll be happy. At the moment time is not even on my mind, I just want to get fit again.”

It has been a case of rest and more rest in recent weeks for the former England Under-21 international who also revealed last week that he was due in hospital last Wednesday to have wisdom teeth removed.

You could say that added insult to injury but Ben added: “I’ve had three weeks rest, just doing weights and strengthening work and now I’m having my wisdom teeth out, I’m allowed a few more days off and then I’ll be taking it to the next stage, straight running and taking it from there.

“The days off will be a welcome break to be honest. The teeth have been playing me up so it’s a case of while I’m out I might as well get them out of the way. When I do come back they won’t be a problem.”
