Benoit Assou-Ekotto is a happy man now that he is fully acclimatised to life in England - and that fact is certainly showing in his play.
Our in form left-back, making good progress in his quest to recover from a hip injury, is also confident that the current Spurs squad possesses all the qualities to enjoy success this season - even if that strength in depth means that his own immediate return to first team action cannot simply be taken for granted.
Benni is the main interview in the current issue of hotspur magazine and is as realistic as he is optimistic. He's also a man not given to seeking publicity so our exclusive chat with him is one that Spurs fans will not want to miss.
"With the way the Club is now it's not as if any player can assume that they will be picked every week, because there is so much competition," he says in the February issue. "That means we are all looking for ways to improve and perfect our games, so that can only be good for Tottenham.
"In truth, I have always had three or four players to battle with in my position...but that keeps things exciting."
Not so long ago, Benni seemed to be on the outside looking in but these days he is central to our ambition and established as an important member of our squad - and signing a new contract has made him feel even more appreciated.
He continues: "It was important to me to go somewhere and really integrate. That's why I have always been completely committed to Tottenham. The challenge has sometimes been a tough one but what has always been real to me is that my passion and commitment are both centred on Spurs and I feel this is now really coming through in my play.
"Of course, it was nice to sign a new contract. I felt it was very important for me and I am happy that the Club shared that view."
