This week’s draw for the Europa League round of 32 pitted us against the Italian giants for the second year in a row.
Last season’s two-legged tie – in which Ben played at left-back – saw us battle out a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane before losing 2-0 in the away fixture to go out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate.
But after digesting Monday’s draw, Ben says we won’t be shy of the second-placed Serie A side when we meet them again at the same stage of the competition in February.
“It’s a tough draw, we’ve seen how well they’re doing this year and how good a team they were last season so it’s another big challenge for us, but we’ll be ready,” said the Welsh international, who featured in last week’s 4-1 home win over Monaco as we rounded off our Group J campaign in convincing fashion.
“I think on another day, especially in the home leg last year, we could have scored three or four goals so we won’t be short on confidence this time around.
“The Monaco result sets the stall out and shows what we can do in Europe. Now we’re in the last 32 where there are a lot of good teams in the competition, but we’re one of them so we’ll look to go out there against Fiorentina, stand up and hopefully pick up a result.”
