The Welsh full-back knows better than most about that competition as he slugs it out with Danny Rose for our left-back slot.
Indeed, it was demonstrated this week as Ben, back from making history by qualifying for Euro 2016 with Wales, was on the bench as Danny took starting honours against Liverpool. That was after Ben had started seven of our previous eight matches in the Premier League.
Ben was then back in the line-up for our Europa League encounter against Anderlecht in Brussels on Thursday night.
"It's always nice to be in the starting line-up," said Ben.
"The competition here is tough so it's always a confidence boost to be selected but at the end of the day, whoever plays, we've a squad full of good players who are capable of putting in performances.
"We have a young team here at Spurs and we all share the same passion and desire to do well.
"We've just got to make sure that we do it every week."
It's now a couple of weeks since Wales qualified for next summer's Euro 2016 Finals in France - Wales' first major final appearance since 1958.
"It's only just starting to sink in," added Ben. "Considering it hasn't been done for such a long time it's a great achievement.
"We're very close and that showed on the pitch. We've put ourselves in a great situation now and we can't wait for the tournament next year."
