“I wanted that fourth goal!” said Jermain, who will kick-off next term joint-seventh in our all-time goalscoring list.
"In my experience over the years when you score goals they just keep coming.
“When you’ve have a good pre-season and you are scoring goals, that takes you into the season.
“It’s important to have the confidence as a striker that when you get a chance, you believe you are going to score.
“When you’ve got that belief, good things happen.
“Hopefully when the season starts I’ll continue scoring. That would be great.”
Jermain is currently on 133 goals for us, level with Alan Gilzean. Six more and he’ll leapfrog Gilzean, Len Duqemin (134) and George Hunt (138) for a place our all-time top five.
The top four are Cliff Jones (159), Martin Chivers (174), Bobby Smith (208) and Jimmy Greaves (266).
