Michael Dawson is preparing for battle at Bramall Lane on Saturday.

The centre-back expects a physical test for our defence up against the strength of Sheffield United's newly-formed front pairing of Jon Stead and Rob Hulse.

Stead has recently joined from Sunderland after a loan spell at Derby County and responded with two goals in his first four games.

"They have two big lads up front, look to get the ball forward quickly and after playing against Arsenal and Manchester United in the last week, this will be a different test," reasoned 'Daws'.

"They will be up for the battle and we've got to be ready for it.

"They are fighting for their lives and I feel that's why they continue to pick up points - they've done well in the Premiership after promotion because it's not easy.

"It will be a test, but it's a test every week in the Premiership. We are all determined to improve on our away form and pick up again quickly after last weekend."

Meanwhile, Daws reflected on another England call-up for this week's friendly against Spain but again, unfortunately, no first cap to his name.

"It was great to be in the squad again and it would be fantastic to win that first cap now," he added.

"I've been in the last few squads but as I've said all along, we're so strong defensively all I can do is keep plugging away."
