FIRST OF all, the loan move to Crewe was ideal for me. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, to go and test myself in league football and this is my chance. On the playing side of things, I’ve settled well. Crewe has a reputation of bringing youngsters on, the coaching is great and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.

OF COURSE, it’s always a bonus to score on your debut! I did exactly that against Huddersfield and it went well. As well as scoring, I forced the keeper into a few saves and my all-round play was good. Unfortunately, last weekend at Doncaster didn’t go as well. Doncaster are a good side and I ended up fighting for scraps. It was frustrating but I realise there will be games like that and I have to take the positives. It’s not that easy when you are out there though!

AWAY from football, any young footballer will tell you it’s tough moving away from family and friends, but it’s something you have to deal with. Luckily, I’m in a position where I went on loan earlier in my career and I knew what to expect. I was in a hotel for a month at Exeter and that can get to you, but I’m already in a flat in Crewe. I’ve been in for a week now and feel settled. It’s always tough to start with and you miss home, but you have a job to do.

IT’S STRANGE knowing that Spurs have a reserve game and I’m not involved. In a funny way, I miss it, but I need to be out on loan and experiencing tough, competitive football to further my development and career. Obviously, I have a lot of friends at Spurs and I’ll be looking out for the reserves when I’m up here. Anyway, I noticed that Andy Barcham scored a goal with a header against Chelsea on Monday. Barchy scoring a header? Is he alright? It must have just hit him on the head, surely. Seriously though, that’s two in two and I’m delighted for him.

THIS WEEK we’ve been building up to Millwall at home in League One. To be honest, I’ve not felt too well in the last couple of days, I’ve had a bit of a virus but I’m pretty confident I’ll be okay for the weekend. Otherwise, I’ve been meeting up with the other lads after training or coming home and catching up with a few television programmes or DVDs. There is also a gym just around the corner from me, so I’ve been doing a bit of work in there or going swimming.

AS I SAID, I like my films and I’ve been persuaded to do a few film reviews in this diary, so here goes…

BARNEY’S FILM REVIEWS...
Disturbia - It’s a thriller about a lad who thinks one of his neighbours is a serial killer. Not usually my cup of tea, a bit slow in places but okay. 3/5.

Superbad - It’s basically about three geeky young lads who are getting ready to go to college. It’s a bit like American Pie, but it was funny and certainly raised a few giggles! 4.5/5.

Look out for more from Barney next week...
