Gareth Bale says the players will reap the benefits from our training camp in America.
After five days in San Jose, California, the squad has travelled across the country for the second leg of the trip in New York.
We take on New York Red Bulls tonight (Thursday, July 22, 8.30pm local time; 1.30am, July 23, UK) and Sporting Lisbon on Sunday in the Barclays New York Challenge.
The players trained for the first time in humid conditions at the New York Jets NFL team's training base on Wednesday morning.
"It's obviously very hot, it is hard work but I think overall it is a great workout for us," said Gareth.
"It is a lot different to back in London. The humidity is higher, the heat is greater so you obviously get fitter quicker which will benefit us going back into the season."
After a goalless draw against MLS side and our club partners San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, Gareth expects another tough test against the Red Bulls.
"I haven't really watched much MLS but there are some good players out here," he said.
"I think it is good for the Premier League and the MLS to come together and work together to help improve the level of football.
"The Quakes came over to us in their pre-season and obviously did their training camp which did them a lot of good and it's the same for us."
