Backing the bid

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

With a team from the International Olympic Committee inspecting London's 2012 Olympics bid this week, the Club would like to reaffirm our support for London’s bid, particularly in light of an inaccurate report in yesterday’s Evening Standard stating that the Club as yet had not officially backed the bid.

The Club was proud in January to host the official launch of Premier League Clubs backing the bid.

We helped to kick off the campaign at White Hart Lane when Ledley King was joined by Rt Hon Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Sebastian Coe, London 2012 Chairman and Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore.

Since the launch we have supported London’s bid in a number of different ways including promotion of the bid on, in our matchday programme, on our jumbotron screens on a matchday and through advertising around the pitch.

The Club will continue to support the bid in the coming months and hopes for a successful outcome when the International Olympic Committee announces the host nation for the 2012 Olympics on July 6th.
