Mark Hughes is hoping for a settled central midfield partnership with Dean Marney in our promising reserve side.
The pair - team-mates throughout their time in the Academy - were back together in our excellent 4-1 win against Leicester City.
As development coach Clive Allen pointed out, the pair dovetail so well together with Mark holding back to allow Dean to bomb forward - he cracked in four shots on the night.
"I really enjoyed it," said Mark. "I thought we played really well in the first 40 minutes, created loads of chances and although they had a young side I think everyone went about it the right well.
"To score four goals in any game is good going. Dean is great to play with in midfield, a good passer of the ball, a good engine. I enjoyed it. Hopefully it will be like that for more games."
