Alex Pritchard played a key role as our Under-18s beat Charlton 4-0 in the Premier Academy League on Saturday.

The young midfielder scored twice and set-up the opening goal as the lads bounced back from successive 4-2 defeats in the PAL.

Jonathan Miles made his first start in the PAL while both Pritchard and Zaine Francis-Angol played 60 minutes as they continue to work their way back from injury.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We went ahead early when Alex Pritchard put pressure on their centre-half, won possession and set-up Laste Dombaxe, who finished well.

"It stayed 1-0 until half-time and we then scored two quick goals at the start of the second half.

"Alex curled in a free-kick from outside the box after 50 minutes and five minutes later, Shaquille Coulthirst sent Alex clear and he finished one-on-one for 3-0.

"We completed the scoring in the 75th minute when after good play down the left, Jesse Waller Lassen went through and finished from a tight angle.

"I was delighted because the lads worked hard throughout the week to improve their individual qualities and a lot of them took those improvements into the game.

"As we always say, results aren't everything, but it was important for the team in terms of their confidence as much as anything.

"It's a young team and I'm confident they will continue to make progress."
