THE BEEPING - or should that be bleeping - noise through Xtra's office window signalled the moment we've been waiting for.
The pounding of trainers on grass, the smell of sweaty training tops, the Lodge was alive again with the sound of banter...
FOOTBALL IS BACK!
Okay, okay, thanks to the World Cup, it never really went away.
But, incredibly, Crouchy's header at City and that May evening at Eastlands that we'll never forget is already two months ago - and our first pre-season friendly is at Bournemouth this Saturday.
So welcome back to the lads and welcome back to Xtra. Here we go again!
AS HIGHLIGHTED above, it wasn't exactly a gentle welcome back for the lads who 'enjoyed' a bleep test to level 10 on their first day back.
The players were split into two groups and underwent medical tests, the bleep test, a jumping test and then finished off with a light jog.
It has to be said at this point that the definition of 'light jog' in this case differs greatly from Xtra's own - a difference of about 5,000 metres, in fact.
Look out for more from Xtra as the lads get stuck into pre-season training this week...
