Darren Bent was delighted to get a final taste of the action before the season came to a close on Sunday having battled back from injury.
The striker suffered a knee injury after a nasty fall in our defeat at Manchester United in April, and it looked as if it was season over for our top scorer at that point.
But he dedicated plenty of time and effort to get fit enough to play a cameo role late on in our defeat at Liverpool on the final day.
And although the injury prevented him adding to his 17-goal season haul, ‘Benty' was just pleased to be back.
"I'd been doing lots of strengthening work in the gym, although at the time of the injury, I thought it might be serious.
"As is often the case, the injury wasn't as bad as first feared, and after two days of full training, I managed to get back for the Liverpool game.
"It would have been nice to have scored 20 goals this season, but due to the injury and lack of game time, it wasn't meant to be.
"But I'm happy with my goal tally for the season overall, and nobody can take those 17 goals away from me. Hopefully I'll be sitting here next season having scored 20+."
