Our Norwegian international was hit with a hamstring problem after scoring two goals against Derby County back in October.
On Wednesday he played his first match since being struck down almost two months ago and he was back on target again, this time in a private friendly against Fulham at Spurs Lodge.
More importantly ‘Leo’ completed the full 90 minutes and now he has to strike the balance between rushing himself back too quickly and being desperate to feature in the derby against Arsenal on Monday.
A delighted Leo said: “I’m very pleased to be back and the most important thing was that I didn’t feel the injury. I felt okay and the only thing I need now is games. It was very important for me and I’m very positive.
“I just have to train as hard as I can and then hopefully I’ll be involved against Arsenal. It could be too early though, I don’t know.
“The main thing for me now is to be fully fit, to train hard and hopefully be involved again soon.”
Playing in central midfield, Leonhardsen gave a typically workaholic display between areas. Fulham won the friendly 4-2.
