Ledley King underlined the importance of our away form after the victory at Portsmouth.
A rock at the back, Ledley scored his first goal of the season and was on target alongside Jermain Defoe as we won 2-1 at Fratton Park.
We were under pressure for the final half-hour following JD's sending off but held on thanks to some determined defending and a string of fine saves from Heurelho Gomes.
It was our third away win already this season as we sit third in the Barclays Premier League - by comparison it took until November 9 and our sixth away game to register our first away win last season, a 2-1 success at Manchester City.
"We didn't play well at the start of the second half and obviously the sending off made it more difficult," reflected Ledley. "The result shows the resilience we now have in the squad.
"That's three wins and a draw away from home so far and it shows we've improved in that department and we can get results away from home.
"That will be the difference between us really pushing on.
"It's going to be a tough league this season, every game is tough and teams will drop points. We're always confident at home so away form will be vital."
