England have played well in their last qualification games, forget Holland, that was a friendly, but they have to win in Germany and I can’t see that happening.
I think if the Germans need a point, they will get a point.
People ask if I miss playing for Germay and I reply it was always my pleasure and my dream to play for Germany.
If I don’t play anymore for Germany then I will enjoy my time with my club.
You can see now that I have more time for Tottenham, more time for myself and my family but if I am wanted to play for my country again I will do it.
But I don’t think about it. Sometimes, when I am at home watching a game, I think about what is always a wonderful feeling to play for your country. But I enjoy watching the game or perhaps helping a TV team.
This time around, I can’t believe that the Germans will lose at home to England.
Having said that, I think the English squad is very strong, much different to the last squad against Holland.
There were too many problems on the pitch that night — the first time Wes Brown and Keown played together, Sol Campbell and Rio Ferdinand were injured, Carragher in the middle of the park when he plays on the left, Owen Hargreaves in his first game.
Put all that together and you cannot beat Holland. But that was a friendly and this is different.
I know Germany and if they need a point they will get it — and the pressure is on England because they need to win.
Back at Spurs, it is difficult because when you have a lot of players away you train with a lot of youngsters or, like on Tuesday, you train with only five players.
You have to look to yourself but it is not easy. The real week will start on Monday. Christian is back from Germany on Monday and the rest come in on Thursday but from Monday we’ll give our focus to the Southampton game.
This week has been the week to breathe in a little. Pre-season was tough with many games but this week has been different with so many people away.
Everyone has to realise that we have to go into the Southampton game to fight, to win every ball and let them know that we are at home and we will win that game. We have to concentrate from the first minute.
All that doesn’t win the game, but that’s the attitude we need. Fight and give 100 per cent all the time. Then, I think we will be the winner.
I’ve been asked if I hope things will turn around. I don’t like to just hope things will turn around. If we concentrate, fight and stay together then you have a chance to win every game. It’s not just hope.
You have to play in every game and if you know that, you have the chance to win every game. At White Hart Lane we can win every game and with that feeling you do not have to hope.
You have to believe. I always say the head has to be free. I you think something is wrong then you will find problems. If your head is free you will play 100 per cent and no problems in the background.
It is always the same answer when people ask me about England v Germany - what a game! I look forward to it and I think it’s a special situation.
