The Cameroon pair could come face-to-face down our left flank if Thimothee is selected at left-back and Lauren takes his usual right-back role.
Lauren was capped 25 times by the 'Indomitable Lions' the but called it a day on his international career after playing every game in the 2002 World CUp Finals. Thimothee has played all-but one of Cameroon's qualifying matches for the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany.
"Yes, Lauren is my friend," said Thimothee. "I spoke to him before I came to Spurs and he told me like Geremi, like Djembe-Djembe, that the Premiership was good.
"We are quite close in London but I have no secrets off him!
"He's a physical player and likes a battle, likes to tackle. When you play against him he doesn't think of you as a friend, that comes after the game. On the pitch it's different.
"He's adapted well because a move from Spain to England is not easy but you can see he likes the Premiership, likes Arsenal and he's completely adapted to the Premiership."
Thimothee didn't feature in the 5-4 encounter at the Lane in November but knows exactly what to expect tonight.
"I know the most important derby is Arsenal against Tottenham," he added. "We need points so we won't go there looking for a draw, we want three points to help us qualify for Europe."
Thimothee Atouba expects his friendship with Lauren to go out of the window for 90 minutes at Highbury tonight.
