Harry Kane led the way with his first senior hat-trick for the club and Erik Lamela added the other two, including an incredible 'Rabona’ goal - wrapping his left foot around his right to strike the ball - from 20 yards as we ran out 5-1 victors at White Hart Lane.
However, despite the scoreline, Mauricio wasn’t satisfied that we conceded a late goal. Tasos Tsokanis broke clear of our defence, Hugo Lloris raced out to meet him and after the 50-50 collision, was sent off.
Jeronimo Barrales curled the free-kick past Harry, who went in goal as we’d used our three substitutes.
The result left us joint-top with Besiktas, who enjoyed a 4-0 win against Partizan in Belgrade.
“I’m happy we got the three points because it was very important for the possibility of progressing to the next round,” said Mauricio.
“I’m not too happy because of the end of the game. At 5-0, we need to manage the game better and not give the possibility to the opponent to arrive one against one with our goalkeeper. For that, I’m not satisfied.”
Mauricio paid tribute to goalscorers Harry and Erik. “It’s good for Harry, a striker always needs to score goals and I’m happy for him,” he said.
“It was a great goal from Erik, an unbelievable goal. It was good for our supporters and I’m happy for him as well.”
