Woody's a winner!

31 October 2008

Jonathan Woodgate is hopeful the winning mentality is back within the squad going into tomorrow's clash with Liverpool at The Lane.

The defender is in no doubt we are in for another tough test against the current Barclays Premier League leaders.

But after victory over Bolton last weekend and our stirring fightback to take at point at Arsenal on Wednesday, Woody insists confidence is high.

And now he is determined to keep the current form going as we aim to climb off the bottom of the league table.

"Liverpool are an exceptional side and it's going to be hard for us, but we've just got a new manager in and he's perked the players up a lot and hopefully we can produce on the day," said Woody.

"We had eight games without a win in the league, which wasn't nice for the players and the fans but hopefully we've put things right now.

"The league's the most important thing at the moment because of the position we are in. We have to win as many games as we can. We need to get the winning mentality so that every game we play we try to win, and the winning mentality is really important at the moment.

"We need to get out of the bottom three and put a good run of results together. All the players are working as hard as they can to try and do it.

"Hopefully the confidence is coming back into the players and we can start winning more games."
