Sam Allardyce felt his side 'gifted' us the goals as we won Saturday's encounter 3-1 at the Lane.

Rovers started well but we gradually got on top and Jermain Defoe prodded home from close range to open the scoring in first half injury time.

Roman Pavlyuchenko finished off a quick break with a 20-yard shot that somewhat went through Rovers keeper Jason Brown for 2-0, Christopher Samba pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go but any nerves were settled by Pavlyuchenko's second for 3-1 with five minutes remaining.

Rovers boss Allardyce said: "We've been very generous to Tottenham and unfortunately that generosity has cost us getting anything out of this game.

"It really was disappointing because overall we had a lion's share of the play.

"When we review the game and review the decisions, we have to and work as hard as we can to make them right because it's committing hari-kari almost.

"It's gifting them the goals rather than them using their ability and their talents to get the ball in the back of the net."
