Adam Smith made quite an impression on his debut for Torquay in League Two on Saturday.
The full-back, 18, stepped straight into action after joining the Gulls on loan last week for the clash against high-flying Rotherham.
He played the full 90 minutes at left-back and was named Man of the Match.
"I thought Adam was fantastic," said Torquay boss Paul Buckle. "He knows what he's doing as a defender and he certainly gave us some attacking flair. He thoroughly deserved the Man of the Match Award."
Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as two late goals saw Rotherham to a 2-0 win at Plainmoor.
Jonathan
Obika was on target and Ryan Mason heavily involved in the action as
Yeovil fought out a 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Charlton in
League One.
Mason forced an early save from Charlton keeper Carl Ikeme and was then hauled down by Sam Sodje when clean through on goal - Sodje was sent off.
The 18-year-old then set-up his fellow loanee Obika for the opening goal just before half-time.
However, Charlton rallied in the second half and equalised through Akpo Sodje in the 56th minute. Steven Caulker completed a trio of Spurs loanees to play 90 minutes for Yeovil at Huish Park.
Andros Townsend was in flying form as Leyton Orient beat Tranmere 2-1 in League One.
The winger carved out no less than four chances for his team-mates - none were taken - and was involved in the move that led to the opening goal for Scott McGleish.
John Bostock followed up his two-goal debut for Brentford in League One last week with another 90-minute shift as the Bees drew 1-1 against Walsall.
Troy Archibald-Henville was a late substitute and on the pitch as Exeter scored two goals in injury time to beat Stockport 3-1 at Edgeley Park. Goalkeeper Oscar Jansson remained on the bench and it was the same story for David Button as Shrewsbury drew 1-1 against Bury in League Two.
Jamie O'Hara had Portsmouth's best effort on goal - although Kevin Prince Boateng also missed a penalty - with a 30-yarder that forced a fine save from Thomas Sorensen as Pompey lost 1-0 at Stoke in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday.
In the Championship, Kyle Walker played 90 minutes as Sheffield United beat Peterborough United 1-0 at Bramall Lane, Jake Livermore played for 85 minutes as Derby lost 1-0 at Swansea and Adel Taarabt had QPR's best effort, a 20-yarder that zipped just wide, after coming on for the second half of his side's 2-0 loss at Doncaster.
In the Blue Square Premier, Sam Cox played 59 minutes in Histon's goalless draw against Wrexham.
