Ledley King admitted the biggest frustration from Saturday's 1-1 draw at Birmingham was that we'd done the hard work only to be hit by an injury-time equaliser.
We'd had the better of a tough encounter against a Blues side unbeaten at St Andrews since September and finally broke through in the 69th minute when Jermain Defoe arrowed home a volley from Peter Crouch's flick.
The home side had been restricted to a handful of chances - the best wasted by striker Christian ‘Chucho' Benitez - and it looked like a fifth away win was in the bag only for Liam Ridgewell to equalise from close range in the first minute of added time.
Captain at St Andrews, Ledley had mixed emotions afterwards - naturally disappointed with the late goal, but equally realising that a point at the home of the Premier League's form team was far from a disaster.
"It was a scrappy game but I thought we were the better team," he reflected. "We'd done the dirty work and I thought at times we got the ball down and tried to play.
"We got in front and we'd done the hard work, but that's why Birmingham have done so well this season, they make you work until the last minute and they defend superbly as well, throwing bodies in the way of shots. That's what they've done all season.
"Obviously, a point was never going to be a bad result at St Andrews but the circumstances, conceding a late goal, makes it feel like a loss.
"Having come so close to taking all three points, we're all disappointed to only take one, but as I said, it's not a bad point and we can take positives away from the performance as well."
