Ladies latest

09 March 2010

The Spurs Ladies bounced back from their midweek cup defeat at the hands of North London rivals Arsenal to record a comfortable win in the FA South-East Combination.

An Arsenal side that included eight internationals had run out 10-0 winners in the semi-final of the London FA Women's Senior Cup at Broxbourne Borough FC last Thursday night.

So it took a great show of character from Karen Hills' side on Sunday to keep up an unbeaten league run that has lasted since mid-October.

Two goals from substitute Vanessa Storey (pictured above) and a penalty from Sam Pituck saw the girls defeat MK Dons 3-0 at the Frederick Knights Sports Ground.

The Reserve side were less impressive as they were knocked out of the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy at the hands of Old Actonians, despite taking the lead through Fiona Butterfield.

The Third team was also eliminated from the same competition by Luton Town Reserves in similar circumstances, having again gone in front early on only to be pegged back by the visitors.

The Under-16s were the only other Spurs Ladies side to defeat outside opposition over the weekend, although they made heavy weather of their 1-0 cup win over St Martins, in which Siobhan Wilson's penalty was all that separated the sides.

There were two inter-club matches at the lower age groups, with the Whites victorious over the Blues in both the Under-11 and Under-10 categories.
