KICK INTO READING

15 February 2008
Children throughout Haringey have been attending exciting storytelling sessions involving the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and a professional storyteller performing to them in five of the Borough's libraries this week.

The storyteller, Tony Dallas, has trained Tottenham Hotspur Foundation staff in telling stories, sharing picture books and performing riddles and poems.

Haringey libraries have joined forces with the National Literacy Trust and the Foundation to provide positive role models to encourage reading for pleasure as part of the project Kick into Reading. Kick into Reading is run by the National Literacy Trust’s football initiative Reading The Game.

The Foundation's Education Manager Anna Rimington said: "The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is delighted to be partnering the National Literacy Trust and Haringey Libraries to deliver storytelling sessions for over 800 local students. These sessions will supplement the work the Foundation does in schools supporting the educational engagement of children in Haringey.

"Our coaches have benefited from working with the National Literacy Trust story teller and have some great stories to tell! We look forward to welcoming families to the club for the Family Day on March 1st to further celebrate reading."
