The pair lined-up together in the centre of England's defence in the two-legged European Under-21 Championship play-off against France. The first leg at the Lane attracted a record Under-21 crowd but England bowed out 3-2 overall after a controversial penalty in the second leg.
Ferdinand, brother of Rio, turned 20 in February but is ever-present this season and already has over 50 senior appearances to his name.

"Anton's come on a lot," said Michael.
"He's comfortable on the ball and likes to play and in that regard he's not what you'd call an old-fashioned defender, he likes to get the ball down.
"Obviously people are always going to compare Anton with Rio but he probably thrives on that, he's such a confident player."
