Anji vs Spurs - Steffen's target

Posted on 2 October 2013  - 05:45

Steffen Freund is determined to build on our positive start in the Europa League against Tromso when we face Anji Makhachkala in Russia on Thursday.

The Norwegians were put to the sword 3-0 at the Lane in our opening match in Group K while Anji picked up a goalless draw against FC Sheriff in Moldova.

Now we travel to the Saturn Stadium in Ramenskoye, Moscow, to take on a team currently struggling at the wrong end of the Russian Premier League.

“We all know to go to Russia and play after a long journey is always difficult, but they are 15th in the league and we have the chance to perform well, beat them and six points after two games would help us to qualify early from the group,” explained Steffen, our Assistant Head Coach.

“We want to build on Tromso and with the next game against Sheriff, it would be important to come home with the minimum of a draw but if we can beat them, we will be in a fantastic position.”

Tromso take on Sheriff in Norway in the other match in Group K.
