Anfield looming

Posted on 19 January 2005  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

With the 4th round of the FA Youth Cup looming tonight, Jamie O'Hara and Charlie Lee take a light-hearted look at the prospect of taking on Liverpool at Anfield.

You seem to have all been bubbling since the draw was made...
Jamie: It is a big one for us, Liverpool are bottom of their league so we are hoping we can go out at Anfield, do well, and get into the next round.

Charlie: You can't help but think about it. It will be a big game and I can't wait to play in it.

Aside from playing at White Hart Lane, would it be fair to say that Anfield is as big as it gets for you lads?
CL: Anfield will be amazing to play at with all the history there. White Hart Lane was brilliant and I can't wait to play at Anfield.

JO: I'm a Tottenham fan so White Hart Lane was the one for me - this will be mega as well.

You've had a Christmas break, are you all quite sharp or have you had to shed a few pounds?
CL: I actually feel a lot better than I did after last Christmas, I thought I came back a bit heavy. I've did a bit of running during the break and feel as sharp as anything. You have to be fit for the Youth Cup!

Jamie, will you find it easy enough to slot back into the youth team after training and playing for the reserves?
JO:
Coming down to the 18s means I am back playing with my good mates so I like it. I'm looking forward to a few of them coming up to the reserves so I can train with them more, but I always like the chance to come back down.

How does it work, do you come back and train with the under-18s ahead of the game?
JO:
The last time I joined in a week before to get back into the swing of things. We all know each other anyway and know that Charlie will lump it all the time, so we've just got to get on the second balls!

How many family and friends will be making the trip to Anfield?
CL:
The whole family, I can see a mini-bus going up there with the Lee family in it. Everybody wants to see a member of the family play.

You'll be hoping there is a good crowd on the night up at Anfield to create a good atmosphere...
CL:
We were impressed how many people turned up to watch us at White Hart Lane. We know how much the Liverpool people love their football so hopefully there will be quite a big crowd there.

Will you all be suited and booted again?
CL:
I hope so, you've got to look professional! I haven't had it on again since, I bought it for the game and that is about it...

You mustn't take too much notice of Liverpool's league position as you never know how things will pan out on the night...
CL:
We all know they will be a strong team, they might not have been playing all their big guns in all the games. We've bought Jamie and Phil Ifil down - when we see them come down we know there is a big game coming up! Phil comes in and he loves it!

We give them a bit of stick, they fit in nicely, but they do miss the Bristol aways, I must admit.

What were they like in the last game?
CL:
They were useless, but I reckon they will do something for us against Liverpool and we need them to play well.
