That’s according to Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas, who is thrilled that the lively marksman has seized his chance in our recent European and Capital One Cup exploits.
JD has helped himself to two goals in each of his last three starts, playing a key role in our wins over Dinamo Tbilisi and Tromso IL in the Europa League, and this week’s 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup.
The England international has also been effective when used off the bench in the Premier League this term – complementing fellow striker Roberto Soldado in our impressive new-look strike force.
“He is doing extremely well,” enthused Andre. “He’s been excellent every time that he is given his opportunity.
“He is scoring goals for fun, which is what he has done throughout his career, and ticking all the right boxes.
“He is competing for that position with Soldado which he has been from the start, but he is responding extremely well to every opportunity, I’m very, very happy.”
Andre added that JD’s form is yet another example of how many quality options the boss has at his disposal this term.
“We have great strength in depth this year, not only the team is scoring but also preventing the other teams from scoring.
“We have in this dressing room a great team spirit and ambition to reach our objectives, and I think that’s why they (the players) have approached every single game with great responsibility and professionalism.”
