Fans travelling to Brussels for our match against RSC Anderlecht will find a city with plenty to do including historic squares, museums, monuments and parks.
Grand Place is one of the best known squares in Europe with its ornate baroque and gothic buildings. The Town Hall, with its beautiful façade featuring the famous needle-like crooked spire, topped by the archangel St. Michael, dates back to the 13th century. The square itself serves as the city centre and there are a great many places to enjoy Belgian hospitality at one of the many terraced cafes. No visit to Brussels would be complete without sampling the chocolate!
However, we would advise you to keep a close watch on your personal belongings whilst in crowded areas and if you are staying overnight, only take out with you what you need at any one time.
When in the city centre, please do not hang banners or flags on historic buildings, statues or architecture. There will be a large police presence in the city throughout the day and we would ask that you respect local laws and inhabitants.
When making your way to the stadium, the best mode of travel is the metro and you should take this from the city centre station 'De Brouckere' to 'Veeweyde' station and walk from there to the stadium. If you choose to take a taxi, please agree a fare before departure. Taxis are not freely available post-match and you should return to the city centre via the metro system.
On arrival, you will be asked to show your tickets to the local police who will then allow you to enter an exclusion zone. Directional signage is available and you should enter via Entrance 1.
Please be aware that if you arrive at this point without a ticket, you cannot go any further and could face arrest if you remain there. Tickets will not be available on the day and you should not attempt to go to the stadium without a ticket.
Our supporters are advised not to travel to Brussels without a match ticket.
At the turnstiles, you will be searched by stewards, supported by local police and please note that the usual prohibited items apply. THFC Stewards will be on hand to assist you if required and can retain any items not allowed entry until after the match. Please ensure that you know where you can pick up such items post-match.
Flags and banners are welcome and these will be checked prior to entry. As always, please note that it is common policy and normal ground rules at football stadiums in the UK and elsewhere in Europe that flags of an overtly religious/sectarian/political nature will not be permitted and may be confiscated, please respect this request.
Once through the turnstiles, there are a number of catering and welfare facilities available. Smoking is permitted in this outer concourse area only and not in the seated areas. Tickets will be checked and you will be directed to the lower or upper tier as your ticket dictates.
It is likely that THFC fans will be held back for up to 20 minutes post-match and we ask that you are patient during this time as it could lead to an earlier departure. Welfare facilities will be available to you during this time. Please also be aware that once the game has kicked off, you will not be allowed to leave until the hold back is complete. The police insist that no-one leaves before this time. Please understand that this is a decision taken by the police and THFC fans must abide by this decision. The Police will authorise the opening of the gates once the immediate area is clear of home fans.
For those fans on the official trip, your coach will be in the car park directly outside the turnstile area and you should make your way to the vehicle as soon as you are able to do so. THFC Stewards will be on hand to guide you.
Remember to have the correct travel insurance prior to travelling.
If you experience any problems whilst in Brussels, please call the Travel Line - 07971 880445 - and we will endeavour to assist.
The Club is rightly proud of the good behaviour of our fans during previous European travels and we would ask that you uphold this and remember that you are an ambassador for the Club and therefore we would respectfully request that you behave accordingly throughout the entirety of your visit.
