Alton looked ahead to a serious wind-down before he prepares himself for the rigours of a first pre-season under the stewardship of Glenn and a working trip to La Manga in early July.
“I’m ready for a break,” confirmed Alton, who admits that a boys-bash is on the cards during the not overly long break.
“I’ll go away with a few of the lads to Cyprus and just chill out and be ready for next season. I went to Aya Napa last year and enjoyed myself so I’ll go for another week this time.”
But there will be no high-spirited, front page of the tabloids capers for this dedicated young pro.
“I just chill out on the beach,” he insisted, and then confirmed that he is well aware of the pitfalls that can dog wealthy young celebrities while away from the confines of the club environment.
“A lot of people know that footballers go to Aya Napa now, so you have to be careful and keep a low profile. Enjoy yourself but don’t go over the top. The six weeks will just go like that so I’m looking to make the most of it.”
Alton Thelwell was well and truly ready for the holiday season as a productive campaign for the youngster came to a conclusion.
