Sebastien Bassong's goal was cancelled out by a late strike from Craig Gardner as it finished 1-1 against Birmingham City on Saturday.
The defender was back in the starting line-up for injured Younes Kaboul and marked his return by smashing home the opener as we dominated the first half.
Unfortunately, that dominance didn't result in a second goal and the Blues, who have lost just one match out of their last 27 in all competitions at St Andrew's, came back into it in the second half.
The introduction of six-foot-eight striker Nikola Zigic enabled the home side to hit the ball longer and push us back deeper and deeper.
When Heurelho Gomes saved point-blank from Liam Ridgewell in the 79th minute lt looked like we might just hold on for a hard-fought three points.
However, just two minutes later Roger Johnson crossed to the far post, Zigic headed back and Gardner made no mistake with his flying header.
