JURGEN KLINSMANN has commended Steffen Freund's dedication to fight back from a second cruciate ligament injury.
The former German team-mates may line-up together again on Thursday in the eagerly-awaited Tottenham Tribute Match at the Lane.
Jurgen joins fellow legends Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle, Paul and Clive Allen in the match against DC United to raise funds for former players.
Steffen and Jurgen were in the German side that triumphed in Euro 96 until Steffen suffered his first serious knee injury in that memorable semi-final against England at Wembley.
Six years on and the midfield marauder has just fought back again from the same injury, this time on his left knee. He has now played twice in the first team after picking up the injury against Chelsea in January.
Jurgen said: "Steffen is a very good friend and a wonderful lad.
"I haven't seen that many professionals who live for the game so much and have the attitude he has.
"He had some unbelievable moments, especially at Euro 96 and he is very suited to the English game because he dedicates himself 1000 per cent to the team.
"He is a hard, hard worker and the fact that he has come back a second time after such a difficult injury and operation stands on its own.
"He is a great guy. It doesn't surprise me he is such a favourite with the fans because he does everything for the team ansd never gives up. People appreciate that and that's why he is also still appreciated in Germany."
TICKETS are currently on sale from the Spurs Ticketline on 08700 112222 or online for members and season ticket holders. Child and OAP entry is just £5, with Adults £15/20.
