Coventry City Under-18s 2, Spurs 1
Our Under-18s paid for a poor start as they suffered a 2-1 loss at Coventry City in the FA Premier Academy League.
The lads were 2-0 down within 25 minutes and couldn't haul themselves back despite a fight back in the second half. Radwan Hamed (pictured) pulled one back 15 minutes from time but an equaliser proved elusive.
Coach Pat Holland gave us this report. "We didn’t start particularly well and that's been a problem. Neither side made a real impression but we then conceded a corner, didn’t deal with it, a free header fell kindly to their player in the six-yard box and he scrambled it in. That was after about 20 minutes.
"The second goal was about five minutes later and came from a ball down the middle that the two centre-backs didn’t deal with and the lad went through and finished well.
"So we were 2-0 down after about 25 minutes.
The second half was a lot better, we had more spirit about us and upped the tempo of our game
"Young David Hutton came on for Andy Barcham and did well on his debut but we couldn’t get the breakthrough.
"Then with about 15 minutes to go we had good movement and a cross from our left by Joey Martin was finished well by Radwan Hamed into the top corner.
"We bashed away in the last 10 minutes to get the equaliser but it wasn’t too be."
