Our Under-18s showed two sides to their character in avenging last season's FA Youth Cup defeat at Blackburn with a 2-1 win against Rovers in league action on Saturday.

The lads made it two wins out of two in the FA Premier Academy League thanks to goals from Terry Dixon and Tomas Pekhart, his first for the club.

Academy manager John McDermott reported: "Blackburn are a strong side, a strong Academy and physically they always pose problems but our performance in the first half was excellent.

"We went 1-0 up through Terry Dixon mid-way through the first half where we had a short counter-attack, Terry beat his man and drilled home with his left foot. That was good because he's been working on his left side.

"I thought we exploited the right really well for the second goal, some super play and Jamie Davis crossed for Tomas Pekhart to score a real goalscorer's goal from 12 yards, striking the ball on the turn.

"We spoke about the importance of the third goal and in the second half we had a set play that Leigh Mills met with a great header that was cleared off the line. From there, they counter-attacked, won a free-kick and made it 2-1. So it could have been 3-0 and 15 seconds later it was 2-1.

"The second half was a little scrappier, they had slightly the better of it but it was testament to our grit and determination that we managed to hold onto a 2-1 lead.

"It was different types of 45 minutes. The first was creative and we expressed ourselves well, the second was grittier, perhaps ugly at times but we showed two sides of the game that successful sides have."

Spurs U18s: Stroud, Smith, Hughton, Mills, Livermore, Maghoma, Lewis, Dixon, Davis, Pekhart, Fraser-Allen. Unused subs: Dalton, Mtandari, Lake, Hutton, Hutchins.
