U18 Academy South

FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE

Millwall U18s 2-0 Spurs

Coach Pat Holland was left disappointed after his side's first half display left them an uphill battle at Millwall.

The home side were 2-0 up before we really got going and Pat admitted afterwards that only skipper Kieran McKenna, impressive so far this season, emerged with any credit.

Pat takes up the story. "The first half was as disappointing a half I've had since I've been here. We lacked passion. It might have been the system we played which the boys found difficult and it might have been the conditions, but it was poor.

"Millwall scored after 15 minutes when a lad was free at the far post from a corner and they got a disputed penalty 10 minutes later, the lads thought it was harsh, but after 25 minutes we're 2-0 down and it could have been five or six, that's how poorly we played.

"We had a little chat at half-time, changed it a little, went to a 4-4-2 and in fairness to them, they were the better side in the second half.

"But, as I told their manager afterwards, Millwall deserved it on their first half performance and we deserved to lose after our first half performance. Let's hope it's the last one of those this season."
