Our Academy group travelled out to Belgium today (Thursday) to take part in the prestigious Eurofoot international tournament.
Alex Inglethorpe's side were runners-up in the competition last year, having won the trophy in 2007.
We have been placed in Group B alongside Belgian clubs AA Gent, Anderlecht and Club Brugge, with Sao Paulo of Brazil and Willem II of Holland making up the group.
The lads will play 40 minute matches against all five sides over the course of the next two days before the prospect of semi-finals and a final on Sunday.
Holders Eintracht Frankfurt, Germinal Beerschot, Celtic, Cercle Brugge, Standard Liege and PSV Eindhoven make up Group B.
Eurofoot will be the first taste of tournament football at this level for many of the latest intake of First Years into our Academy
Coach Alex said: "Some great teams have played in this tournament in recent years, and this year we will be joined by the likes of Celtic, Eintracht Frankfurt, PSV Eindhoven, and Sao Paulo.
"We're missing some key players who are either out on loan or with the First Team in China, but we still expect to do well, and if these players play to their capabilities, we will be successful.
"However, for a lot of these players, it will be very different to anything they have experienced before.
"We will be playing a lot of games while we're out there, so we're hoping that it will add another level to the players' fitness.
"We also hope to continue to learn the game considering the calibre of opposition we will be playing against, which will hopefully prepapre them for the coming season."
