Academy intake given Wembley welcome

Posted on 30 August 2017  - 06:00

Our new first year Academy recruits were given a fantastic welcome at the home game against Burnley on Sunday, as they were introduced to fans during the half-time show.

The group of 16 youngsters, who join our Under-9s after being selected from a pool of over 500 trialists, chatted excitedly to stadium announcer Paul Coyte in front of the crowd before posing for pitch side photos with their coaches.

Our Academy has produced a string of talent for the First team in recent times, including the likes of Harry Kane and Harry Winks, while Kyle-Walker-Peters put in a Man of the Match performance on his debut against Newcastle on the opening day of the season.

Gary Broadhurst, Head of Academy Development, said: “It’s a fantastic for our new young players to come onto the pitch, experience the atmosphere and see what it’s all about. We’re very proud of our Academy and look forward to working with this group during the season.”
