Supersport, our Academy partners in South Africa, forged into a 2-0 lead early in the second half before we got into our stride in the final half-hour, levelled the scores and could have gone on to win.
Damien Mitchell, Supersport's scorer in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Wednesday, did the trick again in the 10th minute, controlling Mbuso Manyoni's cross before arrowing his shot into the top corner.
The striker was there again a couple of minutes into the second half, sent clean away by Manyoni, he kept his cool to finish low at the near post.
Ryan Mason responded almost immediately when he hit the underside of the crossbar from 18 yards but our first goal wasn't far away as Jon Obika flicked on Andros Townsend's cross and David Hutton volleyed home at the far post.
Sherwyn Naiker denied Townsend and Yaser Kasim in the space of a minute before the equaliser on 68 minutes - quick interplay between Sol Asajile and Mason was rewarded as Mason curled exquisitely into the corner from 20 yards.
James Dalton was forced into a double save from Manyoni and Kamohelo Mokotjo as Superspot threatened on the break but the final chances went our way - Mason and Cox missed the target by inches before Naiker denied Obika one-on-one in added time.
In Friday's other friendly at the Lodge, Manchester United beat Hibernian 3-0 with goals from Federico Macheda (2mins), Danny Drinkwater (penalty, 9mins) and Macheda again after 67 minutes.
Our Academy side was given a scare by Supersport United before recovering to draw Friday's private friendly at Spurs Lodge.
