Aaron Lennon has spoken of his pride after becoming only the 24th player in the club’s history to reach the 350-game milestone.

The jet-heeled winger hit the 350 mark when he stepped off the bench in our 2-2 draw against Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday and soon ticked over to 351 with a start against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday.

That took his tally to 54 European matches - just 10 behind Steve Perryman - and he’ll soon be knocking at the door of the club’s all-time top 20 appearance-makers and a certain Jermain Defoe, currently 20th on 363.

“It’s a very proud moment for me and I’ve enjoyed every minute,” he said.

“It’s flown by, to be honest. It’s gone so quickly, but that’s probably because I’ve enjoyed it so much.

“For only 24 players to have reached 350 games in the club’s history brings it home to me as to what an achievement it is.

“I’ve seen the list of players to have reached 350 appearances and it’s an honour to be there with them, players who have done so much for this club."

‘Azza’ joined us aged just 18 in July, 2005 and remembers his early days at the club. “It wasn’t long after my 18th birthday and it was a huge move for me at the time.

“Leeds is a big city but it doesn’t compare to London. Even driving around was crazy! I remember I used the sat-nav to get everywhere, even to the Training Ground (Spurs Lodge) and that was only just around the corner!

“Everyone at the club made me feel welcome and that made it much easier for me. I think you can see that from the length of time I’ve now been here.

“It’s crazy to think about that it’s almost 10 years ago. The time has flown by. When you think of it as approaching 10 years soon, wow, that’s a long time.

“But it doesn’t seem that long ago and that’s because I’ve enjoyed it. As they say, time flies when you are having fun!”
