A job well done

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

John Gorman looked back on the victory over Newcastle at Spurs Lodge this week, reflecting that it was a performance of both style and resolve.

"We said that after," he said. "It was a game of two halves - but this time two good halves!

"It was a different style in each, in the first we played some super football and the second goal epitomised everything we believe in at this club. It's the way Tottenham want to play and it was a wonderful finish after a great move."

John says he is not surprised at how soon the team have taken on the management's approach in terms of style of play, and reasons that reward could have come sooner.

"Probably even more quickly. We were not disappointed with the way we've been playing, but we needed to get the results to go with the performances and now it is looking very positive.

"But it is only a couple of games and we need to get a good run together now. We've beaten Tranmere in the cup and won our last two league games, one with a good display and one with an even better display.

"When you think how well we played in part of the game against Man Utd, against Chelsea, Liverpool - look at the points we could have had. We could've been sitting at the top of league.

"It's a nice position to be in and we're very positive that we're going to have a good season."

John also paid tribute to the travelling support that the team enjoyed up at Newcastle and hopes for more of the same as the season progresses.

"The Spurs fans are now enjoying watching. The away fans have been fantastic, they got behind us, were singing from start to finish.

"It was lovely and we want them to see a lot of performances like that, we want to see 4,000-5,000 going to watch us away from home now because they'll certainly see a good display."
