Getting to know a little more about tonight's UEFA Cup opponents...

- This is our first meeting with Anderlecht since the famous 1984 UEFA Cup Final.

- Few fans will ever forget the sight of Tony Parks wheeling away after saving the penalty to clinch us a 4-3 victory on spot-kicks at the Lane.

- The home and away legs both ended 1-1 in that final. Paul Miller grabbed the vital away goal, while Graham Roberts equalised late to take the game into extra time and penalties.

- Roberts, Marc Falco, Gary Stevens and Steve Archibald were successful from the spot with the key save from Parks denying Arnor Gudjohnsen.

- Anderlecht were attempting to become the first team to defend the trophy after triumphing against Benfica in 1983.

- Turning to 2007-08 and we're currently top of Group H with two wins (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Aalborg) and one defeat (Getafe) in three games so far.

- A point against Anderlecht secures a place in the last 32 but we'd be unfortunate not to make it with our current tally of six points - of 24 groups so far in the UEFA Cup, six points has been enough to progress in 23 of them.

- Anderlecht also know victory tonight secures a place in the final 32 regardless of their final group match.

- Anderlecht have played 27 times against English opponents, winning six, drawing three and losing 18.

- We last faced Belgian opposition in last season's UEFA Cup when we beat Club Brugge 3-1 at the Lane.

- Anderlecht drew 0-0 against Standard Liege in their most recent Belgian League match.

- They are currently fifth in the Belgian League but have only lost twice in 14 matches.

- Anderlecht have a wealth of history in European competition. They won the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1976 and 1978, the Super Cup in 1976, the UEFA Cup in 1983 and then lost to us in the UEFA Cup Final of 1984.
