50 up for JD

Jermain Defoe's strike at West Ham was his 50th for the Club in the Premier League.

And he hit the half-century mark on his 150th appearance for us in the Premier League, including 53 appearances as a substitute.

In addition, he has scored 22 goals in 40 cup matches during his two spells with us.

It was also the 149th goal of JD's club career.

He netted 19 for AFC Bournemouth, 41 for West Ham United, 17 for Portsmouth plus 72 to date in our colours.

THREE OUT OF THREE - OR BETTER...

Sunday's win marked the fifth time since joining the Football League in 1908 that we have won each of our first three League fixtures of a season.

The previous instances were...
1913-14 - 3 Division One games (finished 17th)
1919-20 - 7 Division Two games (Champions)
1925-26 - 4 Division One games (15th)
1960-61 - 11 Division One games (Champions)

We last won three consecutive Premier League games during 2007 - in a run of five victories...
February 22 - Everton away, 2-1
February 25 - Bolton home, 4-1
March 4 - West Ham away, 4-3
March 17 - Watford home, 3-1
April 1 - Reading home, 1-0

With thanks, as always, to Club Historian Andy Porter...
