Hugo Lloris has spoken of his pride after clocking up his 300th Spurs appearance in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Since joining us from Lyon in 2012, the goalkeeper has helped us push on in the Premier League to become regular competitors in the Champions League, before leading us into our first-ever final in the competition in June. In that time, he's also been a part of our transition from White Hart Lane to Wembley and then back to our new home in N17, where he has already enjoyed some memorable moments, such as his penalty save from Sergio Aguero in last season's Champions League quarter-final first leg tie with City.

In reaching the milestone, he joins an exclusive club of just 42 other Spurs players who have made at least 300 appearances across our 137 year-long history. That list counts such greats as Jimmy Greaves (379), Danny Blanchflower (382), Glenn Hoddle (490) and Gary Mabbutt (611), with Steve Perryman – our all-time appearance maker – leading the pack with 854 games for us to his name.

Over the years now I have shown my commitment towards the Club and I’m really pleased with the way that we are going.

“I feel really proud,” our skipper smiled. “Over the years now I have shown my commitment towards the Club and I’m really pleased with the way that we are going.

“It has demanded a lot of effort inside the dressing room and inside the Club, but I think step by step we have built a really strong team, a really strong club and hopefully the best is ahead of us.

“I just try to enjoy it and try to help my team-mates, try to be one of the leaders of the team and like all my team-mates, we all want to find the moment to win trophies.

“We chase after that, we work for that and we just need to be a bit patient, keep working with the right mentality as always and hopefully we will be rewarded – the players, the Club and mainly the fans, they deserve it.”

Hard work and patience were once again shown by the team in Saturday’s clash with the Citizens, as we came away with a point from the north west after another dramatic encounter.

Before the match, City had not dropped a single point in a home league game since December, 2018, but with two clinical finishes from Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, we managed to end that run and take away what Hugo believes could be a very valuable share of the spoils.

“I was very pleased with the point,” he said. “It’s important from the start of the season to have this mentality. Like we said before, if you cannot win, do not lose the game, especially in the type of game that could be decisive at the end of the season.

“There was a lot of intensity, but I thought we showed a lot of maturity. We stayed calm in the storm. They tried to get the third goal early in the second half, but then it’s about details. The result is a good signal to all the other challengers in the league and it has to help us get more confidence.

“We will be even stronger and sharper in the next few weeks so, if you see the context, we can be very pleased with that point.”
