Mauricio Pochettino has shed further light on Toby Alderweireld’s injury after ruling him out of Saturday’s match against West Ham United.
The Belgian international centre-back left the field on a stretcher during the 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion on October 15 after taking a knock to his knee and hasn’t featured since for club or country.
A scan days after the incident returned a positive result but the 27-year-old is still working his way back to fitness.
Speaking to Spurs TV about Toby today (Thursday, November 17), Mauricio said: “From the beginning we believed that it was not a big issue but then it was very slow to recover.
“It was a very strange thing that happened with him and the process is very slow. He is nearly ready – nearly!
“It’s true that two or three weeks ago I gave the same information but now he is very, very close to starting to train with the team.”
