Road to the Lane - Michel Vorm

A detailed timeline on the route our current players have taken from day one on their way to Tottenham. This month we feature our Dutch international goalkeeper MICHEL VORM.

Road_Holland1983  

Born on October 20 at Ijsselstein, in the central province of Utrecht.

1991  

After impressing in local football he joins the youth set-up at nearby JSV Nieuwegein where he continues to develop his early potential as a goalkeeper.

2000  

Is spotted by Eredivisie club FC Utrecht and invited to join their youth academy.

2005  

Michel is upgraded to full professional status at a successful time for the Stadion Galgenwaard outfit who have just retained the KNVB Cup and won the Johan Cruyff Shield.

2005  

After turning professional with Utrecht, Michel is sent on loan to Den Bosch to enhance his experience. He makes his debut against Emmen on August 12 and plays regularly for the Blue White Dragons for the rest of the season. The de Vliert-based club have a strong reputation for developing young players with Ruud van Nistelrooy among those to have started their professional careers there.

2006  

In August, Vorm returns to Utrecht and make his senior debut against Willem II. He does so well that he quickly becomes the club’s number one goalkeeper and misses just one league game in his first season.

2006  

Is part of the Netherlands squad that wins the UEFA Under-21 Championship in Portugal. Holland beat the Ukraine 3-0 in the final to lift the trophy for the first time. Wins one cap at that level.
