Darren Bent celebrates scoring against Aalborg with Tom Huddlestone and Robbie Keane in November, 2007.

Darren Bent v Aalborg (Home) – UEFA Cup Group Stage, November 29, 2007.

Having seen off Cypriot opponents Anorthosis Famagusta in the first round of the UEFA Cup during the 2007-08 season, we were drawn in Group G of the competition with Aalborg, Anderlecht, Getafe and Hapoel Tel Aviv later that campaign.

Unlike the current UEFA Europa League structure, where we play our group stage opponents at home and away, we were handed trips to Hapoel Tel Aviv and Anderlecht and faced Getafe and Aalborg at White Hart Lane.

We started the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Getafe on October 25, 2007, followed by a 2-0 win in Tel Aviv on November 8, 2007. Going into the game with Aalborg on November 29, 2007, we knew a victory over our Danish opponents would present us with a good opportunity to become one of the three teams to progress to the knock-out phase.
