As an impact substitute Ronny Rosenthal had few equals. But there was a whole lot more to our Israeli international striker.
He will always be remembered at Spurs for his amazing match-saving hat trick in the FA Cup at Southampton in March, 1995.
We were two goals down in a fifth round replay and looked on the way out of the competition. But super sub Ronny didn’t just score twice in two second half minutes; both were superb strikes that flew past his former Liverpool team mate Bruce Grobbelaar in the Saints goal.
He completed his hat-trick in extra time as we went on to complete an incredible recovery and win 6-2.
In was so much Rosenthal’s night that few Spurs fans can recall our other scorers in that tie. For the record they were Teddy Sheringham, Nick Barmby and Darren Anderton.
