Ronny Rosenthal v Southampton (Away) – FA Cup Fifth Round Replay, March 1, 1995.

Having been banned from competing in the FA Cup and then reinstated during the 1994-95 season, there were many supporters who felt our name might be on the cup that year. We made light work of our third and fourth round opponents, beating non-league side Altringham 3-0 at home on January 7, 1995, and then dispatching Sunderland with a 4-1 win at the old Roker Park on January 29, 1995.

Premier League club Southampton would provide a sterner test in the fifth round. The Saints gained a credible 1-1 draw in the first meeting of the two sides on February 18, 1995, at White Hart Lane. Jurgen Klinsmann had put us ahead that afternoon only for Matt Le Tissier’s penalty to force a replay at The Dell on March 1, 1995.
