This picture was taken in the old car park at White Hart Lane on September 13, 1974. It was new manager Terry Neill’s first day at the club and the old guard were all there to welcome him.

Bill Nicholson had resigned and the Board had ignored his recommendation that his Double-winning captain Danny Blanchflower should succeed him. Instead they opted for the former Arsenal captain!

Neill, who had won a then record 59 Northern Ireland international caps, was just 32 when this picture was taken. So this group of senior Spurs players were similarly aged and had played against him in many a North London derby.
